Salsaholics Anonymous has eliminated the conventional, “Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced” levelled classes. Instead, we promote a focus on fundamentals in our Foundation class, and choreography in our Repertoire class.
Class Structure
Foundation
The Foundation Class includes most of the skills in Salsaholics’ former 12-step program, Beginner and Intermediate levels. It is where people who are new to salsa will begin. It is also where advanced dancers have an opportunity to refine their technique and benefit from Mark’s “Pro Tips” that he includes with each move. If you want to smooth out your basic, perfect your spin. keep great control on your travelling turns, lock in that hammerlock with precision, then you’ll want to include a Foundations lesson or two from time to time, or even weekly! Foundations class is free for Repertoire students.
Repertoire
Repertoire Class is where we focus on “moves,” patterns, and combinations. The intention here is both to build technical skill in some of the fundamentals, and gain excellence in leading and following technique. We create interesting combinations and choreography that you will be able to break apart, recombine, and include into your own, personal repertoire of lead and follow capabilities. If you were formerly in Salsaholics’ Intermediate or Advanced classes, you’ll likely benefit from the Repertoire class. Admission to Repertoire is by private assessment with Mark to ensure that you will be able to lead and follow more advanced techniques and timing.
