There is a tradition to begin 40 days of gratitude at this time of year – this year it will begin on Monday, February 25 and run until April 6. All you have to do is offer (at least) one acknowledgement of gratitude each day for the 40 days. It could be giving appreciation to someone else, or simply expressing your personal gratitude for something in your life.
For example: Did you go grocery shopping? You could express gratitude for having the money to buy groceries.
Did you have a really hard day at work? You could express gratitude that you have a job when so many are unemployed.
Did your kids drive you crazy and fight with each other? You could give thanks that your kids are healthy and have the energy for sibling arguments.
Much like dance changes the way you experience the world, giving gratitude reframes your entire experience of life for the better. Like partner dancing, giving gratitude stimulates the production of the neurohormones that improve our mood and counter depression. 40 days of giving gratitude each day will instil the habit, and indeed change your life.
Consider this the Global Gratitude Challenge: 40 Days of Gratitude. We can begin by being thankful for the gift of dance, and great people to dance with, as we…
See you on the dance floor.
